Agility Equipment
- Jumps: Four types of jumps or hurdles are used on an agility course:
- Standard jumps have two upright standards supporting 2 horizontal bars.
- Wing jumps have wider standards forcing the handler to work further away from their dogs.
- Double jumps have two parallel bars 8 to 15" apart depending on the jump height.
- Spread or Ascending jumps use ascending bars and are as long as they are high
- Tire Jump - a 19 - 22" (interior diameter) "tire" suspended at the dog's jump height presenting the challenge of jumping through instead of over.
- Tunnel - a flexible tunnel 15 - 20' long. Dogs must enter the correct opening as set in the course.
- Chute - a drum with a 12 foot flared cloth chute through which the dog must "push".
- Weave Poles - a set of usually 6 or 12 poles spaced 20" apart. Dogs must enter with the first pole on their left and weave between each pole.
- Table - dogs must jump onto the table, lie down, and stay for a count of 5 seconds.
- Chute - a drum with a 12 foot flared cloth chute through which the dog must "push".
Contact Equipment
Dogs must touch the yellow contact zones on the way down each of the following three pieces of equipment.
- A-Frame - two sections, each 3' wide by 9' long, hinged and raised into an A-shaped wall.
- Dog Walk - a 36' long, 10-12" wide plank with the centre section elevated 4' from the ground.
- Teeter - similar to the playground toy, a 12' long, 10-12" wide plank that is 24" high at the balance point. It must tip only one way and return.
